The Artificial Intelligence Weapon Systems and the Art of War in the Future

The future War will be fought by machines — But will humans still be in charge of it?

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used in warfare. In the future, at the strategic, operational and tactical levels of warfare, the replacement of human will and energy by autonomous artificial intelligence weapon systems seems likely.

These systems are already in use and have the potential to successfully counter threats, on the basis of the “Boyd Cycle”, faster than humans. Dealing with AI weapon systems will be a very big challenge in a future war.

My opinion argues that unconventional cognition will be required to defeat AI weapon systems. Based on this view, concepts that can be used in the formulation of strategy, operational plans and tactics in a war fought with AI weapons systems are listed.

In recent years, the introduction and use in warfare of artificial intelligence weapon systems has been advancing rapidly. In the future, the widespread use of these systems is expected to dramatically change the nature of warfare at all levels.
